Overview

The Environmental Specialist at Nestlé Health Science in Bohemia, New York, is responsible for coordinating and executing safety, health, and environmental programs at the site. The role emphasizes fostering a culture of safety and accountability among employees while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and company policies.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate and execute safety, health, and environmental programs.
  • Champion a culture of safety, health, and environment as core values.
  • Participate in the Facility SH&E Team and other assigned teams.
  • Coach and develop operations line supervision in SH&E practices.
  • Analyze SH&E conditions and recommend improvements.
  • Implement systems and procedures to maintain compliance.
  • Review engineering plans for environmental regulation compliance.
  • Drive implementation of SH&E best practices and training.
  • Manage Workers' Compensation in cooperation with Risk Management.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of incidents related to SH&E.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental/safety subject area or significant experience in SH&E roles.
  • 1-5 years of experience in Safety, Health, and Environmental activities in manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations.
  • Professional certifications in SH&E fields like CIH, NEBOSH, ASP are a plus.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and decision-making abilities.
  • Training and presentation skills.
  • Technical writing skills for policies and procedures.
  • Digital literacy, especially in Microsoft Office.
