Overview

Calgon Carbon Corporation is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Engineer for their Columbus plant, where the individual will play a crucial role in ensuring environmental compliance and leading safety initiatives. This full-time position involves working closely with plant personnel to develop and implement various safety programs while fostering a culture of environmental and health awareness.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead safety initiatives and compliance activities at the Columbus plant
  • Ensure day-to-day environmental compliance by plant personnel
  • Develop and implement safety programs including Process Hazard Analysis and Behavior-Based Safety
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and reviews to gauge EHS program execution
  • Coach and support line management on EHS topics
  • Manage regulatory compliance reporting and maintain compliance calendar
  • Maintain site ISO certifications and compliance with permits
  • Conduct incident investigations and ensure timely corrective actions
  • Drive awareness of safety, health, and environmental best practices
  • Establish EHS strategy and monitor its execution across the site

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental, Engineering or related technical discipline
  • 5-7 years of Environmental Management experience
  • Regulatory and permitting experience
  • Knowledge of ISO standards and EHS training
  • Experience in risk assessment and hazard analysis
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
