Job Description

Overview

The Engineering Records Technician I is an entry-level position at Fairfax Water, responsible for archival and records management duties under the supervision of the Engineering Records Archivist. This part-time role involves processing, preservation, and maintenance of engineering records and archives, including reports, plans, and documents.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform entry level processing, preservation, and maintenance of records
  • Obtain guidance for retaining and discarding documents as per guidelines
  • Rehouse paper materials according to preservation standards
  • Scan paper records for access
  • Conduct research from existing records and completed construction plans
  • Maintain paper and electronic archives
  • Follow oral and written instructions
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships

Required skills

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of one year experience in archives or records management
  • Knowledge of records management and ability to organize files
  • Working knowledge of Windows, MS Word, and MS Excel
  • Familiarity with construction plans and specifications
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and stand for 8 hours
