Job Description

Overview

As the Engineering Manager (Software) at Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics, you will lead the planning and execution of new product development projects across the entire lifecycle, from concept through to production and ongoing support. This role requires strong leadership and organizational skills to manage multiple projects while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and maintaining a focus on results.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead multiple product development projects from start to support
  • Coach, mentor, and develop direct reports
  • Direct all phases of product development, ensuring compliance with quality requirements
  • Drive projects to meet time, cost, and performance targets
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals
  • Interact with regulatory agencies to support product certification
  • Evaluate new components and technologies for product designs
  • Support technical inquiries from customers for both new and legacy products

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or computer science
  • 10 years of experience in digital and mixed-signal product development
  • 5 years of experience managing direct reports
  • Experience in a regulated industry and manufacturing environment
  • Proficient in design, ERP, and project management software tools
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Familiarity with RTCA DO-160 or similar environmental requirements (preferred)
  • Knowledge of RTCA DO-178 or similar software standards (preferred)
