Job Description

Overview

Lead and grow a team of high-performing data engineers building cloud-native analytics and services for a modern music data and insights company, including hiring, coaching, performance management and career paths planning. Own roadmap, delivery, and people leadership while partnering with Product, Royalties/Finance, Rights Management, and Business Affairs to turn complex music metadata and consumption signals into trustworthy, timely insights. Own delivery of data products: ingestion, modeling, governance, and serving layers powering royalty reporting, marketing analytics, A&R insights, and catalog optimization. Architect cloud solutions with Snowflake at the core (warehouses, tasks/streams, Snowpipe/Snowpipe Streaming, dynamic tables, masking/tagging, RBAC), integrating with orchestration (e.g., Airflow) and transformation (dbt), plus CI/CD. Partner with domain teams to model music-specific entities (ISRC, ISWC, UPC/EAN; sound recording vs. composition; territories; DSP feeds) and reconcile across labels, publishers, and PROs. Drive reliability and cost efficiency: SLAs/SLOs, incident response, capacity planning, and spend optimization (warehouse sizing, result caching, clustering/micro-partitioning). Set standards for code quality, testing, observability, and data quality (contracts, validation, lineage). Manage stakeholders: maintain a transparent backlog, tight feedback loops, and outcome-based roadmaps. Travel to Los Angeles and New York City for internal company meetings on a quarterly basis, generally lasting for one week. A Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or closely related field with six (6) years of experience as data engineer, software engineer, developer, programmer, coder, or closely related occupation, including six (6) years of hands-on cloud experience (using AWS, Azure, or GCP) designing and operating production data systems, three (3) years of experience managing engineers, three (3) years of experience with music industry, three (3) years of experience with each of the following: Snowflake, SQL, data modeling, IaC (Terraform), Containerization (Kubernetes), Python, Data Search Engines (such as OpenSearch, ElastiSearch, Kibana, or related caching service technology), and CI/CD (Jenkins, Github Actions, Bitbucket Pipelines, or GitLabs). Travel to Los Angeles and New York City for internal company meetings on a quarterly basis, generally lasting for one week.
