Job Description

Overview

The Reliability Engineer II at Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline is responsible for supporting the analysis, planning, design, construction, and maintenance of the company's mechanical facilities, particularly for the natural gas compression fleet. This technical leadership role involves data analysis, project management, and the enhancement of engineering processes.

Key responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze data to determine feasibility of design and application
  • Perform optimizations, troubleshooting, and feasibility studies
  • Participate in mechanical equipment specification
  • Support testing and commissioning of controls and software
  • Communicate with project teams to outline work plans and establish project scope
  • Coordinate goals, responsibilities, and resources with collaborating teams
  • Verify work products conform to applicable codes and standards
  • Oversee the work of internal and external resources as required
  • Compose reports, specifications, plans, studies, and designs
  • Suggest improvements to engineering processes and policies
  • Supervise work of resources to ensure quality and quantity
  • Use analytical software to report asset metrics and optimize reliability
  • Support and lead efficiency studies and root-cause analysis teams
  • Serve as subject matter expert on compression and mechanical systems

Required skills

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant engineering discipline
  • 3+ years of experience in pipeline operations, maintenance, or construction
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lead and teach others
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs
  • Knowledge of 2-cycle, 4-cycle, and turbine engine operations
  • Knowledge of auxiliary systems for natural gas compression
  • Ability to prioritize and make decisions independently
  • Experience using OSI Pi or related analytics programs
  • Familiarity with PLC in industrial control systems
  • Understanding of natural gas transmission regulations
