General Purpose Applies prescribed methods and standard practices in performing specific tasks within projects and assists other engineering staff on more complex projects. Develops engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, and performance assessments associated with the planning, design, licensing, construction, operation, and maintenance of the Company's generation, transmission, distribution, telecommunication, or other utility facilities/systems. Prepares engineering scopes of work and technical requirements for engineering and construction projects and performs engineering design reviews to verify compliance with applicable standards, design criteria, Company requirements, project objectives, and industry best practices. This position is available at multiple levels. Applicants will be considered for the level that best matches their education and experience. Responsibilities Responsibilities of the Engineer I position include the following: Assist in the preparation of engineering scope-of-work documents, technical specifications, and design criteria packages.Perform detailed reviews of engineering designs, drawings, calculations, and technical deliverables under the guidance of more experienced engineers to verify accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards.Conduct site inspections to ensure adherence to engineering standards. In addition to the above, the Engineer II responsibilities include: Develop engineering scopes of work, technical requirements, and design criteria for internal and external engineering service providers.Conduct independent engineering design reviews of drawings, calculations, studies, specifications, and other engineering deliverables to ensure technical adequacy, constructability, maintainability, and compliance with Company standards and regulatory requirements.Identify design risks, deficiencies, and opportunities for improvement and provide technical recommendations to project teams and stakeholders.Determine methods and techniques for obtaining results.Guide and direct associate level engineers, technicians and drafters.Recommend alternative solutions to management in area of specialty on engineering solutions to meet business needs.Deliver on commitments and manage outside engineering services to accomplish the assigned work.Maintain project timelines and budgets.Analyze and design engineering methods. In addition to the above, the Senior Engineer responsibilities include: Act as a lead/expert in the work group; train and mentor associate and career level engineers, technicians and drafters. Lead engineering design reviews for complex or high-impact projects and provide technical oversight throughout the engineering design process.Establish and maintain engineering design review practices, standards, and quality expectations for assigned programs and projects.Resolve complex technical issues, evaluate engineering alternatives, and provide expert recommendations to management, project teams, and engineering consultants.Review and approve engineering scopes of work and design deliverables produced by internal staff and external engineering firms. Requirements Requirements for the Engineer I position include the following: Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college/university.Basic knowledge and application of principles in area of engineering specialty.Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations (if required for the position).Ability to interact favorably with project and work teams.
