Overview

The Engineer, Design Mechanical at Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline will lead and oversee engineering aspects of major capital projects related to the design, development, and execution of natural gas facilities. This role involves coordinating with project team members and external resources, ensuring all tasks are completed on time and within budget while using various programs for design tracking and reporting.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all engineering aspects of major capital projects
  • Supervise internal and external resources to ensure quality work
  • Provide mechanical engineering design deliverables including project scopes and estimates
  • Size, specify, and order mechanical equipment and materials for projects
  • Collaborate with Business Development and Customer Solutions to develop agreements
  • Provide technical support and troubleshoot operating issues
  • Review and implement company design standards and specifications
  • Research technical data and industry standards to determine design feasibility
  • Participate in company and industry studies to enhance gas systems safety and efficiency
  • Mentor and guide less experienced engineers

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or civil engineering from an ABET Accredited Program
  • 6 years of experience in design engineering or a related field
  • Valid driver's license and insurability
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and under tight deadlines
  • Experience in mentoring, coaching, or training roles
  • Knowledge of Federal regulations and Industry standards
