Overview

Primient, a century-old company specializing in food and industrial ingredients from renewable sources, is seeking an Engineer 3 for their Decatur, Illinois location. This role is part of the Engineering Technical Track and involves optimizing plant operations through process design, troubleshooting, and efficiency improvements while mentoring junior engineers and overseeing complex projects.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to moderately complex engineering projects
  • Design and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and safety
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers
  • Collaborate across sites to drive operational consistency and share best practices
  • Analyze process performance data to identify inefficiencies and recommend solutions
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and quality standards

Required skills

  • BS in Chemical, Mechanical, Bio, Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in leading optimization and cost reduction initiatives
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma or continuous improvement methodologies
  • Technical expertise in engineering principles
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Project management experience on complex projects
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP, and other business systems
