Overview

SJS Executives, LLC is seeking reliable General Engineers for full-time positions to support operations at a local Veteran's Affairs Hospital in Long Beach, CA. This role involves project management and engineering responsibilities, focusing on capital asset management and strategic investment planning.

Key responsibilities

  • Execute data-driven project tasks under the direction of the Capital Asset Management Supervisor.
  • Lead project development and planning activities including requirements definition and site reconnaissance.
  • Apply advanced engineering principles to solve complex problems.
  • Conduct surveys, field investigations, and data collection efforts.
  • Analyze baseline data and develop efficient design solutions.
  • Provide engineering guidance to internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Review and direct improvements to plans and design analyses.
  • Manage and oversee construction projects, including site inspections.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation and status updates.
  • Coordinate with contractors to resolve field issues and conflicts.
  • Review contractor submittals for compliance with contract requirements.
  • Develop in-house designs and construction documents.
  • Establish design criteria and oversee A/E design deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with VA design standards and federal regulations.
  • Develop detailed project cost estimates.
  • Support Environment of Care programs and monitor safety compliance.
  • Deliver high-quality customer service to stakeholders.

Required skills

  • 5+ years of experience in general engineering, design, construction, or facilities project management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare facility design and construction.
  • Knowledge of building codes and safety standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents.
  • Experience managing A/E firms and construction contractors.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project and Revit preferred.
  • Experience with healthcare information systems preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of federal regulations and compliance requirements.
