Overview

The Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant at Advocate Health is responsible for performing complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to diagnose and treat emergency medical issues, ensuring quality patient care. This role involves coordinating and scheduling lab studies, explaining procedures to patients, and collaborating with the supervising physician to monitor and document patient progress.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for emergency medical problems
  • Record data and conclusions for physician review
  • Coordinate and schedule laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures
  • Explain procedures and their effects to patients
  • Provide complex patient care services under indirect physician supervision
  • Monitor patient progress and consult with the supervising physician as necessary
  • Plan and schedule work for the health team
  • Participate in basic science and clinical research projects
  • Prepare statistical reports and analyses
  • Teach complex techniques and procedures to students, residents, and interns
  • Ensure complete and accurate documentation in medical records
  • Participate in continuing education and stay updated on policies and guidelines
