Job Description

Overview

The Veterans Health Administration is seeking a full-time board-certified Emergency Medicine Physician to serve as the Medical Officer of the Day at the Salisbury VA Medical Center. This role involves both clinical and administrative responsibilities in a busy 24/7 Emergency Department.

Key responsibilities

  • Evaluate, stabilize, and manage emergency department patients
  • Respond to Code Blue, Code Red, and rapid response calls
  • Provide inpatient and emergency coverage including disaster response
  • Supervise medical students and residents as needed
  • Participate in performance improvement, peer review, and committee activities

Required skills

  • Board certification in Emergency Medicine
  • MD or DO degree
  • Full, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the U.S. or its territories
  • Completion of an accredited residency in a core specialty
  • Emergency Room experience including leadership and supervision
