Overview

John A. Logan College is seeking a full-time, tenure-track Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Instructor to join its Health Sciences division. This position involves planning, delivering, and assessing EMS courses in various environments, including classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings, while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and supporting continuous program improvement.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality instruction in assigned EMS courses
  • Establish clear learning outcomes and evaluate student learning
  • Participate in curriculum development and program improvement initiatives
  • Coordinate and supervise EMS clinical, internship, and field experiences
  • Engage with program advisory committees and community partners
  • Attend departmental, divisional, and college meetings and service activities
  • Maintain accurate academic records and support student consultation
  • Stay current with EMS practice, pedagogy, and instructional technologies

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in EMS, public safety, healthcare, or a related field
  • Current State of Illinois paramedic license and EMS Lead Instructor license
  • CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications
  • ITLS or PHTLS certification
  • Minimum three years of field experience as a paramedic
  • Effective communication skills in instructional and professional settings
  • Skills in using instructional technologies and simulation equipment
