Overview

John A. Logan College is seeking a full-time, tenure-track Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Instructor to join its Health Sciences division. The role involves planning, delivering, and assessing high-quality instruction across various settings, including classroom and clinical environments, while also engaging in curriculum development and program improvement efforts.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and assess EMS instruction in classroom, laboratory, simulation, and field-based environments
  • Establish clear learning outcomes and utilize evidence-based teaching strategies
  • Maintain and evaluate student performance and academic records
  • Participate in curriculum development and program improvement initiatives
  • Coordinate EMS clinical, internship, and field experiences
  • Engage with advisory committees and community partners
  • Contribute to student recruitment, retention, and advising activities
  • Participate in departmental and college service and meetings
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current in EMS practice

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in EMS, public safety, healthcare, or related field
  • Current State of Illinois paramedic license and EMS Lead Instructor license
  • CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications
  • ITLS or PHTLS certification
  • Minimum three years of field experience as a paramedic
  • Effective communication skills in instructional settings
  • Knowledge of EMS clinical practice and regulatory requirements
  • Experience in EMS program coordination and instruction
