Job Description

Overview

John A. Logan College is seeking a full-time, tenure-track Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Instructor within the Health Sciences division. The role involves planning, delivering, and assessing instruction in EMS courses across various settings, focusing on continuous curriculum development and program improvement to ensure compliance with state regulations and accreditation standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide instruction in EMS courses across classroom, laboratory, simulation, and field-based environments
  • Develop, maintain, and deliver course syllabi aligned with master syllabi and program outcomes
  • Evaluate student performance and maintain accurate academic records
  • Participate in curriculum development and assessment of student learning outcomes
  • Coordinate and support clinical, internship, and field experiences
  • Engage with advisory committees and community partners
  • Participate in recruitment, retention, and advising activities for EMS students
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain current knowledge in EMS practice

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in EMS, public safety, healthcare, or related field
  • Current State of Illinois paramedic license (or reciprocity within 3 months)
  • Current Illinois EMS Lead Instructor license (or reciprocity within 3 months)
  • Current CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications
  • ITLS or PHTLS certification
  • Minimum of three years of field experience as a paramedic
  • Communication skills in instructional and professional settings
  • Knowledge of EMS clinical practice and instructional methodologies
