Overview

Sterling Engineering is seeking a hands-on Electronics Test Technician to support the production of high-performance computer systems, particularly focusing on AI hardware. This role, located in Milpitas, California, involves system-level testing, troubleshooting, and failure analysis in an advanced electronics manufacturing environment, with an emphasis on debugging and production support.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform functional testing, troubleshooting, and debugging of computer systems and electronic assemblies
  • Conduct failure analysis to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
  • Support production by resolving technical issues quickly to minimize downtime and yield loss
  • Work across system levels, including hardware, firmware, and basic software configuration
  • Execute test procedures, burn-in processes, and validation protocols to ensure product quality
  • Configure systems, including firmware flashing, hardware connections, and system setup
  • Document technical issues clearly and communicate findings to engineering and customers
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams on process improvements
  • Assist with new product introductions and test process development
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to yield, reliability, and efficiency

Required skills

  • 2+ years of experience in electronics, computing, or AI product manufacturing
  • Strong hands-on experience with product testing, debugging, and failure analysis
  • Ability to troubleshoot at the component and system level
  • Basic understanding of circuitry and ability to interpret schematics
  • Experience working in a production environment supporting high-volume manufacturing
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office for documentation and reporting
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Team collaboration skills
