Overview

The Electronics Technician role in the U.S. Navy involves training Sailors to maintain, operate, and repair advanced electronics and computer systems, including radar and communications. This position is crucial for the Combat Systems department on various Navy vessels, and it requires a mix of technical expertise and hands-on maintenance skills.

Key responsibilities

  • Serve as an Electronics Technician (ET) or Fire Controlman (FC) after training based on performance and Navy needs
  • Maintain and repair radar, communication, and navigation equipment
  • Operate, maintain, and repair fire control radars and computers
  • Troubleshoot complex electronic and electromechanical faults
  • Maintain configuration control, documentation, and logs for inspections and combat system readiness
  • Work under time pressure to restore combat systems and communications
