Overview

L3Harris Technologies is seeking an Electro-Optical Technician B for their afternoon shift in Waterdown, Ontario. This role involves analyzing, assembling, testing, and troubleshooting complex electro-optical systems used in defense and security applications. The technician will contribute to product development by collaborating with engineers and management to optimize processes and ensure system reliability.

Key responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics and test instructions
  • Execute assembly, testing, operation, and handling of electro-optical assemblies and lasers
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and optical components
  • Investigate and resolve assembly level defects in collaboration with senior technicians
  • Perform environmental screening and analyze performance data
  • Manage multiple priorities to meet project timelines
  • Engage in cross-functional collaboration with various teams
  • Maintain detailed documentation of assembly, maintenance, and testing efforts
  • Handle customer-owned equipment with precision
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Required skills

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
  • Experience in assembling and testing electromechanical and electro-optical systems
  • Skilled in troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and optical issues
  • Ability to load, configure, and verify software on hardware systems
  • Proficiency in operating large test equipment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Attention to detail and high standards in quality
  • 3-5 years of experience in the Electro-Optical/Electro-Mechanical field
  • Electronics, Robotics or Optronics/Photonics College Diploma
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and ISO9000, AS9100 environments
