Overview

L3Harris Technologies is seeking an Electro-Optical Technician in Waterdown, Ontario. This role involves analyzing and assembling complex electro-mechanical systems while ensuring compliance with safety protocols. The technician will work closely with engineering and production teams to troubleshoot issues and contribute to continuous process improvements.

Key responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics for assembly and testing.
  • Execute assembly of complex electro-mechanical assemblies with attention to detail.
  • Handle chemicals and apply safety protocols during assembly.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical components for optimal performance.
  • Investigate and resolve assembly defects through collaboration with senior technicians and engineers.
  • Perform environmental testing using thermal chambers and vibration tables.
  • Manage multiple priorities to meet project timelines and production goals.
  • Collaborate with Operation Engineers and production teams on technical challenges.
  • Maintain meticulous documentation of assembly and testing processes.
  • Handle customer-owned equipment with precision, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in assembly processes.

Required skills

  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience in assembling and testing complex electromechanical systems.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues.
  • Ability to load and verify software on integrated hardware systems.
  • Proficient in operating large test equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
  • Critical thinking for process improvement and efficiency.
  • High attention to detail and quality standards.
  • 3-5 years' experience in the Mechanical or Electro-mechanical field.
  • Community College diploma in Mechanical Technician/Technology or equivalent.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and ISO9000, AS9100 environments.
