Job Description

Overview

Charter Steel is seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to ensure the reliability and safety of their industrial electrical systems in a team-oriented and safety-focused environment. This role involves the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of various electrical components and systems, while also offering opportunities for skill expansion through on-the-job training.

Key responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial electrical systems and components
  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, calibrations, and installations
  • Read and interpret schematics, equipment manuals, and electrical codes
  • Support mechanical team members and collaborate cross-functionally
  • Operate forklifts, aerial lifts, and overhead cranes as needed
  • Use digital tools and systems to complete work orders and maintain records
  • Support environmental, safety, and quality procedures

Required skills

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of experience in industrial electrician maintenance
  • Strong understanding of AC/DC theory, motor controls, VFDs, PLCs, and hydraulics/pneumatics
  • Experience with schematics, test instruments, and industrial safety protocols
  • Ability to work in environments with dirt, grease, heat, cold, and at heights
  • Journeyman Certification or equivalent experience (nice to have)
  • Background in steel industry maintenance (nice to have)
  • Welding and light fabrication experience (nice to have)
  • Familiarity with Profibus, Profinet, or Ethernet-based industrial networks (nice to have)
  • Knowledge of PID control loops and combustion systems (nice to have)
