Job Description

Overview

Charter Steel is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Technician for its Cleveland Melt Shop in Solon, Ohio. This role is integral to ensuring the reliability and safety of industrial electrical systems within a family-owned company dedicated to growth and stability in the steel industry.

Key responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial electrical systems and components
  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, calibrations, and installations
  • Read and interpret schematics, equipment manuals, and electrical codes
  • Support mechanical team members and collaborate cross-functionally
  • Operate forklifts, aerial lifts, and overhead cranes as needed
  • Use digital tools and systems to complete work orders and maintain records
  • Support environmental, safety, and quality procedures

Required skills

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of experience in industrial electrician maintenance
  • Strong understanding of AC/DC theory, motor controls, VFDs, PLCs, hydraulics, and pneumatics
  • Experience with schematics, test instruments, and industrial safety protocols
  • Ability to work in environments with dirt, grease, heat, cold, and at heights
  • Journeyman Certification, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience (nice to have)
  • Background in steel industry maintenance (nice to have)
  • Welding and light fabrication experience (nice to have)
  • Familiarity with Profibus, Profinet, or Ethernet-based industrial networks (nice to have)
  • Knowledge of PID control loops and combustion systems (nice to have)
