Overview

North Star Electric is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Electrical Estimator to join their growing team in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. This role involves analyzing project plans and specifications to develop accurate cost estimates for multi-family residential electrical projects while meeting critical bid deadlines.

Key responsibilities

  • Review project drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
  • Prepare accurate estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and project costs.
  • Analyze project requirements to determine timelines, staffing needs, and overall project expenses.
  • Solicit and evaluate pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
  • Communicate with general contractors, suppliers, and other companies involved in the bidding process.
  • Maintain organized records of estimates, proposals, and supporting documentation.
  • Collaborate with project managers and team members to ensure accurate and competitive bids.
  • Monitor bid schedules and ensure all proposals are submitted on time.

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • 3+ years of estimating experience in the electrical, construction, or related industry
  • Experience estimating multi-family residential projects
  • Familiarity with estimating software and construction bidding processes
