Job Description

Overview

ACE Thermal Systems is seeking an experienced Electric Motor Design Engineer to lead reverse engineering projects and design AC and DC electric motors for aerospace applications. This role involves working with advanced simulation tools and collaborating closely with manufacturing to ensure designs are viable and meet industry standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and develop AC and DC electric motors
  • Perform electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical analysis using simulation tools
  • Lead reverse engineering projects, including motor teardown and documentation
  • Create detailed CAD models, drawings, and manufacturing documentation
  • Develop motor performance specifications and validation test plans
  • Conduct performance testing on motor efficiency and functionality
  • Analyze and optimize motor efficiency
  • Support prototyping, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
  • Evaluate competitor products and recommend design improvements
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards
  • Lead programs through production launch, including supplier selection

Required skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in electric motor design and development
  • Strong knowledge of electromagnetic theory and motor design principles
  • Experience with motor simulation tools
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor)
  • Hands-on experience with motor teardown and reverse engineering
  • Understanding of winding techniques and motor manufacturing processes
  • Ability to interpret and create detailed engineering drawings
