Job Description

Overview

The EHS&S Engineer at A.O. Smith will play a crucial role in enhancing the organization's environmental, health, safety, and security performance. This position focuses on developing and implementing effective strategies for multiple locations within the Eastern Tennessee Region, ensuring compliance with various regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage EHSS budget
  • Represent facility on Global EHSS Council
  • Manage EHSS through ISO-based management platform and reporting tools
  • Perform routine tasks such as project safety plans, job hazard analyses, and incident investigations
  • Conduct workplace observations and ensure safety equipment is maintained
  • Develop, implement, and monitor safety initiatives
  • Identify, develop, and conduct required EHSS trainings
  • Manage worker's compensation claim process
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required skills

  • Bachelor's in Occupational Health & Safety strongly preferred
  • 5+ years of manufacturing EHS management experience with degree
  • 8+ years of manufacturing EHS management experience without degree
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations (US EPA, TDEC, DOT, TOSHA, etc.)
  • Ability to interpret and apply regulations for compliance
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with ISO 14001 and 45001
