Overview

The EH&S Specialist - Regulatory at SM-Energy Company is responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements in the oil and gas sector. This role involves managing the permitting process by preparing applications, coordinating with teams, and maintaining documentation while adhering to environmental regulations and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit ECMC Form 2 applications for new oil and gas locations.
  • Initiate and process permit amendments using ECMC Form 4.
  • Coordinate and lead pre-development meetings with internal teams.
  • Maintain Best Management Practices (BMPs) and Conditions of Approval (COAs) in tracking systems.
  • Monitor and distribute notifications related to pre-production operations.
  • Track permit status and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Stay informed on changes to permitting regulations and provide guidance.

Required skills

  • Knowledge of pre- and post-drill permitting and compliance processes
  • Understanding of environmental regulations and safety standards
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal laws
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Attention to detail and record-keeping
  • Adaptability and ability to work under pressure
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience with industry-specific software such as IMS, ISNetworld, Wellview, and Spotfire
