Overview

The Economic Analysis Specialist at the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) plays a crucial role in providing economic analysis to support the formulation of state policies aimed at promoting economic growth. This full-time position involves collaborating with various stakeholders to conduct research and assist in the development and evaluation of programs and policies that impact Minnesota's economy.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide information and analysis to encourage businesses to locate and expand in Minnesota
  • Conduct economic analyses of projects, policies, and programs
  • Analyze Minnesota and U.S. economic trends for their impact on business development
  • Aid clients in program design and evaluation

Required skills

  • Two years of experience conducting economic research
  • Bachelor's degree in economics or related field
  • Skill in quantitative analysis
  • Knowledge of Minnesota economic data sources
  • Experience with statistical software (e.g., STATA, SPSS)
  • Experience with spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel) and word processing (Microsoft Word)
  • Effective communication skills
