Job Description

Overview

Metropolitan Ministries is seeking an Early Childhood Teacher to plan and implement educational activities and curriculum for young children. This role focuses on fostering a safe and engaging learning environment, along with administering assessments to monitor child development within a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping the homeless and at-risk communities in Tampa Bay.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate curriculum
  • Administer and score student assessments
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records on each child
  • Ensure classroom safety and cleanliness
  • Adhere to state childcare licensing guidelines and NECPA standards
  • Prepare and submit weekly lesson plans
  • Participate in ongoing training and team initiatives

Required skills

  • Associate's degree or equivalent with CDA credential
  • At least 1 year of experience as an Early Childhood Teacher
  • Knowledge of best practices in early childhood education
  • Classroom management skills
  • Effective communication skills in English
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
