Job Description

Overview

Join McLane Company as a Driver Trainee where you will learn essential driving and logistics functions to contribute to the distribution of products to various customer locations. As part of this role, you'll gain exposure to warehouse operations and commercial driving regulations under the guidance of a Driver Trainer.

Key responsibilities

  • Maneuver tractor to attach trailer and secure lines.
  • Operate truck safely in compliance with regulations and policies.
  • Inspect tractor-trailer equipment for defects pre/post trip.
  • Document delivery receipts, product temperatures, and exceptions.
  • Train with a Driver Trainer at various destinations.
  • Maintain driver log according to DOT regulations.
  • Assist Driver in unloading trailer and delivering products.

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Age 21 or older.
  • Ability to obtain Class A CDL within 6 months.
  • Physical ability to lift, stand, walk, climb, and reach.
  • Mathematical proficiency for verifying product quantities.
  • Effective communication skills in English.
