Job Description

Overview

The Driver Supervisor is responsible for overseeing a group of drivers, focusing on performance monitoring and dispatch management. This leadership role includes ensuring compliance with safety standards, effective employee relations, and managing the daily functions of the driver workforce.

Key responsibilities

  • Daily interaction with the driver workforce
  • Interview, select, train, and manage drivers
  • Ensure all personnel are trained according to operational procedures
  • Monitor new drivers' performance at scheduled intervals
  • Manage driver dispatch for route personnel
  • Ensure drivers report on time and in uniform
  • Provide ongoing feedback to drivers for development
  • Investigate feedback regarding drivers and safety practices
  • Plan for future assignments and manage coverage needs
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations
  • Work with HR on personnel matters and labor relations
  • Review electronic and paper DOT logs
  • Monitor on-time performance in real-time
  • Manage employee performance and apply disciplinary actions when necessary

Required skills

  • Operations experience (1+ year)
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Data analysis and reporting skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Experience with safety and workers' compensation
  • Labor relations and CBA experience preferred
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships
