Job Description

Overview

The Driver Lead, Class A CDL position at RJ Schinner involves overseeing the drivers and ensuring daily processes are conducted correctly, including payroll, maintenance, and shipping. This hands-on role requires strong leadership and collaboration with the Operations Manager to address team and process issues.

Key responsibilities

  • Serve as the main point of contact between drivers and the transportation coordinator
  • Maintain and process drivers' payroll and coordinate vacation
  • Hire and approve drivers and backup drivers
  • Input and maintain maintenance records for all tractor/trailer equipment
  • Coordinate planned and unplanned maintenance of all tractor/trailer equipment
  • Conduct driver drug tests and training for new drivers
  • Coach drivers and administer write-ups

Required skills

  • Current Class A CDL Operator's License
  • 1-3 years of driving experience (preferably 100,000 miles)
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug tests
  • Capability to pass driving history and background checks
  • Possess a Federal Medical Card
