Overview

The Document Automation Coordinator at Reed Smith LLP supports the development and maintenance of document automation solutions to enhance legal workflows and improve efficiency across the firm. This role emphasizes collaboration with attorneys and stakeholders, employing document automation tools, scripting, and related technologies while focusing on troubleshooting and process improvement.

Key responsibilities

  • Consult with legal staff to gather and document specifications for document templates.
  • Develop and implement templates based on defined specifications using relevant scripting tools.
  • Maintain knowledge of software systems and languages necessary for job functions.
  • Enhance and maintain webhooks or APIs for data integration.
  • Troubleshoot document analysis and assembly systems, addressing functionality and logic issues.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal best practices.
  • Leverage generative AI and emerging technologies for document automation.
  • Create system documentation and training materials for staff and attorneys.
  • Promote awareness of document automation solutions within the firm.
  • Maintain relationships with system vendors to align with firm needs.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Legal Studies, or a related field.
  • 4 years of experience in legal workflows or document automation in a legal environment.
  • Hands-on experience with document automation platforms (e.g., Avvoka, Gavel, HotDocs).
  • Advanced skills in MS Office Suite, including macro development.
  • Understanding of legal concepts and workflows related to transactional work.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills to manage multiple projects.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Collaboration skills to work in a remote or hybrid team environment.
