Job Description

Overview

The Dockmaster at JAG Marine Group is responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient docking of marine vessels at their shipyard in Ketchikan, Alaska. This role requires relocation and significant maritime experience, including prior positions in shipyards and drydocking operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Calculate and submit necessary docking and stability documents.
  • Plan, schedule, supervise, and coordinate the docking and undocking of vessels.
  • Monitor vessel movements and ensure safe berthing.
  • Directly supervise the Dry Dock Rigging crew and coordinate dry dock functions.
  • Maintain inventory of blocking materials and jacking equipment.
  • Coordinate with tugboats, pilots, and vessel personnel for efficient docking.
  • Conduct inspections of the Shiplift and related infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental policies and practices during operations.
  • Utilize CAD for dock layouts and vessel movements.
  • Administer drydocking paperwork and safety certification.

Required skills

  • 5 years of experience as a Dock Master in a Shipyard
  • 5 years of experience in drydocking
  • 1 year of experience with Syncrolift preferred
