Overview

The DME Coordinator at Florida Spine Associates is responsible for the pre-service evaluation of authorization requirements for Durable Medical Equipment (DME) prescribed by practitioners. This role involves communication with staff, providers, and members regarding DME orders and requires strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.

Key responsibilities

  • Evaluate authorization requirements for prescribed Durable Medical Equipment
  • Conduct record reviews to confirm proper documentation for DME items
  • Communicate with clinical staff and management about DME orders and fittings
  • Process orders timely and obtain necessary authorizations
  • Manage inventory of DME, including audits and tracking
  • Educate patients on the use and care of DME
  • Build relationships with clinic staff and educate them on handling DME
  • Respond to customer inquiries and elevate issues to management as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality of Protected Health Information in accordance with HIPAA
