Overview

The DME Coordinator at Florida Spine Associates is responsible for managing the authorization requirements for Durable Medical Equipment prescribed by practitioners. This role involves maintaining communication with staff, providers, and patients regarding DME orders, while ensuring proper documentation and timely billing.

Key responsibilities

  • Evaluate pre-service authorization requirements for Durable Medical Equipment
  • Communicate with staff, providers, and patients regarding DME orders and fittings
  • Review clinical information to confirm documentation for DME items
  • Process orders and obtain authorizations in a timely manner
  • Manage inventory, including organizing and tracking DME in all locations
  • Educate patients and clinic staff on DME use and fitting
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA standards and organizational policies
  • Handle billing issues related to DME denials

Required skills

  • 2+ years of experience in a managed care or medical office setting
