Overview

The Abeel Firm PLLC is seeking a Divorce & Family Law Litigation Attorney to manage contested family law cases from intake to resolution. The ideal candidate will be a confident litigator with a strong courtroom presence, committed to advocating effectively for clients while navigating their transitions with professionalism and empathy.

Key responsibilities

  • Handle contested divorce and family law matters through final resolution
  • Develop and execute case strategies proactively with attention to deadlines and details
  • Represent clients in hearings, conferences, motion practice, depositions, and negotiations
  • Draft motions, pleadings, discovery, settlement proposals, and other legal documents
  • Counsel clients with empathy and strategic judgment
  • Maintain organized files and clear communication throughout each case
  • Collaborate with leadership and team members to enhance case strategy and client experience

Required skills

  • Active New York law license
  • 3-4 years of divorce and family law litigation experience; 4-8 years preferred
  • Experience handling contested family law cases independently
  • Strong courtroom presence
  • Excellent writing, drafting, research, and strategic thinking skills
  • Organizational skills and ability to manage a full caseload
  • Professionalism and ability to advocate without unnecessary conflict
