Overview

The Disaster Recovery AmeriCorps Program with SBP is focused on enhancing disaster preparedness and recovery in Lake and Sumter Counties, Florida. As a Client Preparedness Coordinator, the role involves engaging with the community to provide training, resources, and support for individuals and families affected by disasters while fostering resilience through collaboration with various organizations.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver preparedness and disaster resilience trainings.
  • Conduct outreach activities to develop partnerships on preparedness initiatives.
  • Document and track records related to engagement activities and resources.
  • Engage with previous volunteers regarding preparedness trainings and events.
  • Customize and distribute disaster preparedness materials.
  • Assist clients in creating preparedness plans and linking them with external resources.
  • Collaborate with the Client Service team to embed preparedness information into client services.
  • Participate in outreach and planning for preparedness events.
  • Support fundraising efforts for the AmeriCorps project.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and participate in regular safety training.
  • Participate in community service events.
