Job Description

Overview

The Director of Quality Assurance at RIX Industries will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of compliant, mission-critical products that meet rigorous aerospace and defense standards. This role focuses on transforming quality practices from inspection-driven models to proactive, capability-based systems that enhance operational performance and customer trust.

Key responsibilities

  • Supervise Quality System functional leaders and guide their professional development
  • Ensure quality management staff are trained and equipped for their responsibilities
  • Develop and manage departmental plans, budgets, and schedules
  • Maintain and enforce the RIX Quality Management System
  • Implement policies, procedures, and process improvements to strengthen quality assurance
  • Integrate quality assurance in the New Product Introduction process
  • Develop strategies to enhance supplier quality and upstream process capability
  • Lead the advancement and certification of RIX manufacturing core competencies
  • Direct the development of performance measurement systems and Key Performance Indicators
  • Foster collaborative relationships to align quality objectives with operational priorities
  • Champion a continuous improvement mindset and strengthen operational efficiency

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical field
  • 15 years of aerospace or defense manufacturing quality leadership experience
  • Experience with DCMA oversight and government representatives
  • Familiarity with FAR and DFARS requirements
  • 5 years of experience leading AS9100-compliant systems
  • Expertise in configuration management and document control
  • Training or experience in Lean/Six Sigma disciplines
  • Strong background in statistical analysis applied to quality management
  • Proven experience in leading supplier quality in aerospace environments
  • Advanced computer skills for various software applications
  • Exceptional communication skills including group presentations
  • Ability to balance multiple projects with attention to detail
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time

What the company offers

  • $185,000 base salary, dependent on experience
