Job Description

Overview

The Director of Quality Assurance at RIX Industries is a key leadership position responsible for ensuring the delivery of compliant, mission-critical products, primarily in the aerospace and defense sectors. This role focuses on evolving the quality assurance processes from compliance-driven oversight to a proactive approach that enhances operational performance and builds customer trust.

Key responsibilities

  • Supervise Quality System functional leaders and ensure effective team performance.
  • Train and support quality management staff to meet compliance requirements.
  • Develop and manage departmental plans, budgets, and schedules.
  • Lead the RIX Quality Management System's authorship, maintenance, and enforcement.
  • Implement policies and process improvements for quality assurance and control.
  • Integrate Production Readiness into the New Product Introduction process.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Engineering to improve supplier quality.
  • Oversee welder certification program management and process refinement.
  • Develop performance measurement systems including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Foster a culture of trust and accountability in producing conforming products.
  • Champion continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with teams to resolve quality issues and improve outcomes.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical field.
  • 15 years of aerospace or defense manufacturing quality leadership.
  • Experience with DCMA oversight and government compliance.
  • 5 years leading AS9100-compliant systems.
  • Deep knowledge of configuration management and document control.
  • Management experience in continuous improvement and Lean/Six Sigma.
  • Strong Lean/Six Sigma background with statistical skills.
  • Proven experience leading supplier quality.
  • Advanced computer skills and adaptability to software applications.
  • Exceptional communication skills for group presentations.
  • Knowledge of accounting, budgeting, and scheduling processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail.
  • Understanding of gas compressors and generators.
  • U.S. Citizenship or qualified U.S. Person.
