Overview

The Director of Pharmacy at Optum will oversee operations across four pharmacy locations, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements. The role involves strategic planning, staffing, and performance management while driving innovation in pharmacy practice in collaboration with hospital leadership.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all pharmacy services within a hospital
  • Ensure safe, effective, and evidence-based medication use
  • Lead and develop pharmacy leadership, including managers and technicians
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements
  • Oversee system-wide pharmacy financial performance, including budgeting and contract management
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and interdisciplinary stakeholders
  • Drive innovation and performance improvement leveraging data and technology

Required skills

  • ACPE-accredited pharmacy degree (PharmD preferred)
  • Current Montana Pharmacist license
  • 5+ years of experience as a pharmacist in an acute care hospital setting
  • 2+ years of recent Pharmacy Manager/Director experience in a healthcare system
  • In-depth knowledge of state and federal pharmacy regulations
  • Advanced clinical knowledge in pathophysiology and pharmacotherapy
  • Proficient in emerging medications and pharmacy technologies
  • Proven leadership, administrative, and managerial capabilities
