Overview

The Director of Pharmacy at Optum will oversee operations across four pharmacy locations in Great Falls, Montana, ensuring compliance with policies and regulatory requirements while driving innovation in pharmacy practice. This role requires strategic leadership and collaboration with hospital leadership to enhance patient care and operational performance.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all pharmacy services within the hospital
  • Ensure safe and effective evidence-based medication use and oversee clinical pharmacy practice
  • Lead and develop pharmacy leadership, including managers and supporting staff
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements
  • Oversee pharmacy financial performance, including budgeting and cost-containment initiatives
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and interdisciplinary stakeholders on patient care initiatives
  • Drive innovation and performance improvement in pharmacy services

Required skills

  • ACPE-accredited pharmacy degree (PharmD preferred)
  • Current Montana Pharmacist license or eligibility to obtain
  • 5+ years of experience as a pharmacist in an acute care hospital setting
  • 2+ years of recent experience in a Pharmacy Manager/Director role
  • In-depth knowledge of state and federal pharmacy regulations
  • Advanced clinical knowledge in pharmacokinetics and pharmacotherapeutics
  • Proficient in emerging medications and pharmacy technologies
  • Solid leadership and managerial capabilities
