Overview

The Director of Network and Unified Communications will lead the strategy and operations for global connectivity and collaboration within a large defense technology company. This role requires extensive experience in the aerospace, defense, or manufacturing sectors, along with a strong background in enterprise networking and unified communications.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the Network & Unified Communications strategy aligned to broader technology initiatives.
  • Lead modernization efforts for SD-WAN, Zero Trust network segmentation, and VoIP/UC systems.
  • Establish a roadmap for network reliability, capacity, and secure workload placement.
  • Oversee global network and telecom service design, deployment, and operations.
  • Drive proactive monitoring and automation to improve service stability.
  • Manage end-to-end service management with various service delivery teams.
  • Own and modernize the enterprise Unified Communications strategy.
  • Lead a global team of network and telecom professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Manage strategic partners and ensure SLA performance.
  • Collaborate with Cybersecurity to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Required skills

  • 15+ years of relevant experience in aerospace, defense, or manufacturing with Fortune 1000 companies.
  • Expertise in enterprise networking technologies (LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, VPN, routing/switching, Wi-Fi).
  • Strong experience in unified communications (VoIP, SIP, video conferencing).
  • Experience in large-scale network modernization and secure architecture transformations.
  • Ability to lead teams and manage service providers effectively.
  • Relevant certifications (CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, JNCIE, CWNP, ITIL, PMP).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and Zero Trust architecture.
  • Strong business acumen to translate technical requirements into operational outcomes.
