Our facility has spacious private and semiprivate rooms, a well-appointed dining area, comfortable lounges and a beautiful landscaped outdoor terrace.Cherry Brook's mission is to provide the highest quality of care and customer service to our residents and their families by using best practices, highly trained staff and innovative programs and services designed to meet their needs.PURPOSE OF YOUR POSITION:The primary purpose of your job position is to plan, organize and direct the MDS process in accordance with federal and state standards, guidelines, and regulation that govern our facility. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:Coordination of MDS process. Identifies data integrity weaknesses in medical records and communicates findings. Issues and delivers denial notices timely and appropriately. Complete and transmit all CMS approved item sets (MDS) Must be knowledgeable of and follow current CMS regulatory guidelines as described in RAI Manual. PPS must know current Medicare as per MBM. Attendance at RCCs to lead discussion, documenting appropriately. Schedule interim conference for condition changes: i.e., URI, UTI, Cataract Surgery, etc. (OBRA) Attend morning report, maintain communication and rehab services, nursing staff and others to keep abreast of resident condition change. Complies with facility privacy policies and procedures and protects residents' individual health information. Maintains Medicare meeting minutes per Medicare program agreement. Daily review with rehab manager (or designee) of minutes and rehab status. Issues and delivers Medicare BN (denial letters) per CMS regulation. Assures appropriate management of residents' Medicare/Insurance benefits. Maintains adequate systems to ensure appropriate document (i.e., MD certs, IDT program, insurance authorization) is sufficient to support billed services. Fully complies with all federal and state laws and standards of ethical and professional conduct applicable to the position. Knowledge about laws and regulations relating to job responsibilities, e.g., EEO, OSHA, patient rights, HIPAA, fraud/abuse laws. Participates in triple check process.Completes and maintains all documentation as appropriate.Demonstrates strong computer skills and demonstrates ownership over the MDS department, working in conjunction with part time MDS staff.EDUCATION:Must possess, as a minimum, a Nursing Degree from an accredited school of nursing, college or university, RN preferred. SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:Must possess a current, unencumbered license to practice as an RN/LPN in this state. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such an action. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public. Must be able to coordinate MDS systems, resident assessment and care plans for each resident timely. Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care. Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel. Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents. Must be willing to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing nursing practices. Must be able to communicate effectively to appropriate personnel regarding emergency situations. Must possess accurate and comprehensive assessment skills to ensure standards of nursing practice.
