Overview

The Director of Jewish Life at Colgate University is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Jewish life on campus, working as part of a multi-faith chaplaincy team. This role involves providing leadership for religious observances, mentoring student leaders, and fostering interfaith engagement within the university and broader community.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide collaborative leadership for Jewish religious services and observances.
  • Mentor student leaders in Jewish life and cultural matters.
  • Oversee the M. Saperstein Jewish Center and its facilities.
  • Advise the Colgate Jewish Union Board and facilitate student participation.
  • Plan and implement a comprehensive program of Jewish religious life.
  • Engage with faculty, alumni, and community religious organizations.
  • Lead public events and faith-related gatherings.
  • Design and assess programs aligned with university goals.
  • Provide pastoral care and counseling across various faith traditions.
