Job Description

Overview

The Director of Financial Applications is a remote leadership position for a global law firm, focusing on implementing and improving firmwide financial systems and applications. The role entails collaboration with finance and accounting leadership as well as IT partners to modernize systems, optimize processes, and ensure data integrity across financial platforms.

Key responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the CFO and Finance & Accounting leadership on financial systems modernization
  • Lead the transformation strategy for financial systems, including roadmap development and execution of technology programs
  • Develop project plans, timelines, and OKRs to ensure timely delivery of technology initiatives
  • Maintain governance artifacts such as process maps and requirements documentation
  • Oversee the reliability and compliance of Finance & Accounting systems and platforms
  • Act as a liaison between Finance & Accounting, IT, and external vendors
  • Evaluate and implement automation and emerging technologies
  • Manage the technology-related budget and define operational performance metrics
  • Lead training programs and change management efforts
  • Travel occasionally to support firm initiatives

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least ten years of experience in systems implementation, business analysis, project management, or process improvemen
  • Experience with financial and ERP systems such as Aderant Expert or similar
  • Proficiency in data analytics and business intelligence tools
  • Technical skills in relational database design, T-SQL, Excel, Power Query, and Python
  • Familiarity with BI tools like Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, and similar platforms
  • Experience with budgeting and forecasting platforms such as BigHand Intellistat
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks and cybersecurity best practices
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Proven financial acumen in professional services environments
  • PMP certification or project management credential preferred

  • Salary range is $235k - $265k commensurate with experience and depending on location
