Overview

The Director of Emergency Services will lead a multi-site emergency services operation in a large acute care hospital environment. This position involves overseeing the management of a complex emergency services network, with a focus on clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and team development.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead operations across multiple emergency department sites
  • Oversee patient flow, throughput, volume forecasting, and capacity planning
  • Ensure timely and effective admission, discharge, and transfer processes
  • Drive clinical quality through evidence-based practice
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards
  • Manage budgeting, labor productivity, and financial performance
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and operational efficiency improvements
  • Partner with medical leadership and interdisciplinary teams
  • Develop, mentor, and retain emergency services leadership and staff
  • Support strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives

Required skills

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience required; 5+ years preferred
  • Strong experience as an Emergency Department Director
  • Proven track record in emergency services operations
