Overview

The Director of Communications, Admission and Financial Aid at Amherst College is a senior leadership position responsible for developing and implementing effective enrollment communications and marketing strategies. This role aims to advance the college's mission concerning access and affordability while ensuring that communications resonate with diverse student backgrounds.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and refine communications and marketing strategy for the Admission & Financial Aid division
  • Design integrated campaigns across various platforms to engage prospective students and families
  • Manage communications and marketing budgets, including contracts with external vendors
  • Supervise an Assistant Director of Communications and foster a collaborative team culture
  • Oversee admission and financial aid websites and enrollment marketing infrastructures
  • Produce and edit various content types including print, digital, and social media
  • Draft timely messaging for sensitive topics related to admission and financial aid
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders across the college to align communications

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 7-10 years of experience in communications or marketing, preferably in higher education
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Experience managing complex projects and budgets
  • Supervisory experience and ability to mentor staff
  • Proficiency in web content management systems and CRM platforms like Slate
