Overview

The University of Iowa is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Heart Failure Cardiologist to serve as the Director of the Cardiomyopathy section at Iowa's only Blue Designation Heart Transplant Center. This position involves leading comprehensive heart failure services and being heavily involved in clinical research and multidisciplinary team coordination.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead Iowa's only Blue Designation Heart Transplant Center
  • Direct comprehensive heart failure services including cardiomyopathy and heart transplant
  • Oversee the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Clinic, designated as an HCMA Center of Excellence
  • Build and grow the Heart Transplant and LVAD program
  • Engage in clinical research with active enrollment in major trials
  • Balance clinical work, leadership time, and research
  • Lead a comprehensive care team including various healthcare professionals

Required skills

  • BC/BE Heart Failure Cardiologist
  • Clinical leadership in cardiology
  • Experience with heart failure management and transplant services
  • Research experience in cardiovascular medicine
  • Multidisciplinary team coordination skills
