Job Description

Overview

Avera Health is seeking a compassionate and experienced nurse leader for the Director of Nursing Services in Long Term Care at Avera Mother Joseph Manor Retirement Community. This role is responsible for providing strategic leadership, ensuring quality nursing care, and managing the nursing staff to meet the needs of residents in the facility.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure total nursing care of residents and accurate nursing care records
  • Participate in selecting prospective residents based on care needs
  • Oversee all Federal/State SNF Conditions of Participation
  • Establish and implement policies/procedures for resident care
  • Determine staffing levels and patterns to provide quality care
  • Participate in budgeting and decision-making for the facility
  • Coordinate the QAPI program and facilitate staff involvement
  • Monitor non-nursing responsibilities delegated to other staff
  • Understand Medicare/Medicaid coverage requirements
  • Ensure comprehensive care plans are established for each resident
  • Interact with physicians/providers for resident care planning
  • Conduct discharge and transfer planning for residents
  • Manage hiring, development, training, and retention of employees

Required skills

  • Registered Nurse (RN) active license
  • 4-6 years in long term/skilled care experience
  • 1-3 years of leadership experience preferred
