Job Description

Overview

The Director of Financial Planning and Analysis at Midland States Bank will report to the Chief Financial Officer and oversee the company's financial planning processes, including budget development and financial analysis. This role involves collaboration across the organization to enhance forecasting and reporting accuracy, while also managing compliance with applicable regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and manage the annual budget and periodic forecasts
  • Provide financial analysis and business decision support
  • Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly financial reporting
  • Identify operational or performance concerns and present findings to leadership
  • Assist with integrating acquired entities into profitability reporting
  • Support monthly reporting package related to financial statements and key trends
  • Drive quarterly Business Unit Review processes
  • Validate and refine reporting queries for strategic initiatives
  • Support quarterly external reporting and earnings call information
  • Conduct financial modeling and analysis for contracts and projects
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
  • 10+ years of progressive finance experience
  • Banking or financial services experience (5+ years)
  • Knowledge of budget and forecasting processes
  • Familiarity with GAAP accounting principles in the banking industry
  • Experience with financial services funds transfer pricing
  • Proficient with systems such as Cognos and Axiom
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Project management capabilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively
