Job Description

Overview

The Director of Financial Planning & Analysis at Alaska Airlines will support the Maintenance and Engineering division by setting long-term financial strategies and overseeing financial performance. This role acts as a CFO for the division, focusing on cost management and providing valuable analysis to inform strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

  • Establish strategic goals for the finance team
  • Set long-term budgeting strategies as the financial partner to divisional leadership
  • Lead budgeting strategy and planning processes
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly closing, forecasting, and reporting
  • Review financial performance with division leadership and identify key variances
  • Conduct root cause analysis on variances and trends
  • Drive continuous improvements in the annual budget process
  • Manage investments and capital management
  • Consult with key stakeholders and promote financial literacy
  • Develop financial models for key company activities
  • Stay abreast of industry trends to drive improvements
  • Develop team members through effective management and feedback

Required skills

  • 8 years of financial planning and analysis experience
  • 5 years of leadership experience
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or economics
  • Experience with financial tools like NPV, ROIC, and cash flow
  • Strong business acumen and analytical capabilities
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams
  • Self-starter with the ability to analyze complex data
  • Ability to manage tough conversations
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • CPA and/or CFA qualifications preferred
  • Experience in the airline industry or related fields preferred
  • Experience with financial software like PeopleSoft and Tableau preferred
